What is Glycolic Acid?
Glycolic Acid is the most versatile and easily absorbed of the Alphahydroxy Acids. Derived from sugar cane, it was developed through scientific research and found to be extremely effective in the treatment of Dermatological conditions including, Acne, fine wrinkles, and changes in skin pigmentation.
How Glycolic Acid Works?
Glycolic acids decrease the "glue" that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. This allows dead cells to drop away, leaving behind a layer of smoother, softer skin. Glycolic acid also stimulates the skin to make new collagen fibers that help to improve wrinkling and the effects of sun damage. In addition, glycolic acids help dissolve the material that clogs pores allowing the pore to drain better thus decreasing spots and acne formation.

-Dead Sea Salt - World Renowned for its abilities to draw out toxins and impurities, detoxifies. The many benefits of sea salt and why Nordic uses Sea salt in all of their scrubs: For centuries, people have bathed in the mineral-rich seas of the world to help promote good health and beautiful skin. Ancient records show that people traveled many miles to bathe in salt waters such as the Dead Sea, the Black Sea, the Red Sea, the Blue Lagoon, Scandinavian Fjords and the famous mineral springs around the world. The mineral-rich, salty waters have been know to help alleviate even the most severe cases of dry skin disorders. Salt water bathing stimulates circulation, hydrates the skin, increases moisture retention, promotes cellular regeneration, detoxifies the skin, and helps heal dry, scaling, irritated skin. It also reduces inflammation of the muscles and joints, relaxes muscles and relieves pain and soreness. MAE has become very popular as a result of Dr. Nicholas Perricone, M.D.'s top-selling book, The Wrinkle Cure, in which he promotes supplementing with DMAE as a treatment for reducing wrinkles.When applied to the skin DMAE would stimulate acetylcholine release which would trigger a response in the muscles of the face. This activity creates a firmer facial tone and less sagging. DMAE is used topically to reduce fine lines and wrinkles showing a noticeable difference within 20 minutes of application.

MSM, Methylsulfonylmethane, is a naturally occurring nutrient found in plants, meats, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. MSM is therefore found in the normal human diet. It is an odorless, tasteless, white water soluble, crystalline solid in its purified form.
MSM supplies sulfur to the body which allows it to heal itself. It produces muscle relaxation and reportedly a whole host of beneficial qualities. NATURAL PRESERVATIVES: Essential Oils that help keep a product fresh, Naturally.
-Grapefruit Seed Extract - High anti-oxidant proprieties, broad spectrum anti-septic and anti-biotic. A natural antibiotic, antiseptic, disinfectant and preservative. It is used to promote the healing of almost any atypical skin condition. According to published sources it is effective against more than 800 bacterial and viral organisms, 100 strains of fungus, and a large number of single-cell and multi-celled parasites. This preservative is used by many handcrafters in products that contain water.
-Rosemary Essential Oil -Toner, Purifier, anti-microbial properties, skin rejuvenator, reduces mental strain, fatigue and anxiety. Rosemary Extract is a powerful antioxidant. Aging processes, such as browning, thickening and wrinkling; and melanoma and other skin cancers are thought to be accelerated by the accumulation of peroxides in the skin tissues. These peroxides are produced by environmental factors such as heat and ultra-violet radiation from sunlight, a primary cause of sunburn and melanoma. In a study conducted to test photoprotectivity, it was discovered that Carnosic acid (found in Rosemary) did protect the skin from UV damage. This evidence is further corroborated in expired US patents 5,358,752, which show in the examples complete elimination of peroxides as a result of UVB radiation. Rosemary also has a history of anti-bacterial and anti-microbial applications. One study found it to be effective against HIV-1. Rosemary is both a physical and mental stimulant, which makes it a good oil to have in a morning bath, while also being excellent in the treatment of all muscular conditions, making it the perfect oil for a bath at the end of a long day. This antiseptic oil is used in the treatment of muscular sprains, arthritis, rheumatism, depression, fatigue, memory loss, migraine, headaches, coughs, flu and diabetes, among other conditions. It is also very useful in beauty treatments for hair care, ache and cellulite remedies.
-Vitamin E (Natural) - A potent anti-oxidant that fights free radicals, a skin softening healer that helps reduce scars, repairs tissue, also an excellent natural preservative: This is a powerful antioxidant used in preserving oils and keeping them from going rancid. Be aware that there is a synthetic on the market called variously Tocopherol, Alpha Tocopherol and/or Tocopherol Acetate. Nordic incorporates only Natural Vitamin E in our products.

-Cypress - No other natural oil is so effective in reducing skin puffiness as is cypress. Cypress is an exotic plant found in Arabia. Its special powers are noticeable when skin, eyes, face are tired and swollen. It reduces puffiness very effectively while at the same time toning and tightening the delicate skin. Used for circulatory conditions, helps problems with cellulite, nervous tension, varicose veins.
-Eucalyptus - Anti-septic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, cool and soothing, promotes purification. Cools the body in the summer and protects it in the winter. It is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibiotic, diuretic, analgesic and deodorizing. Research has proven its antiviral properties as well. It is best known for its effectiveness against coughs and colds, but it is equally effective in the treatment of cystitis, diabetes and sunburn. It is also useful as an insect repellant.
-Geranium - Used for broken capillaries, eczema, mature skin, also for depression and nervous tension. The essential oil of geranium works profoundly on the emotions and is useful in many medical conditions. It makes chilblains disappear overnight and brings a radiant glow when used in skin care. It is a vital component in the treatment of endometriosis and is very effective for menopausal problems, diabetes, blood disorders, throat infections, as a nerve tonic and works as a sedative.
-Green Tea - Rich in potent anti-oxidants, has many therapeutic effects, reportedly the most powerful anti-oxidant known to man. Green tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world (water is the first) and has been used medicinally for centuries in China and Japan. That is because a number of beneficial health effects in green tea are attributed to regular consumption of green tea and dried/powdered extracts of green tea. Green tea comes from the leaves of the white-flowered tea plant, Camellia sinensis, a bush native to Asia. These tea leaves are less processed than black tea and contain rich sources of antioxidants which protect the body's cells from damage and fight diseases. The antioxidants, which are the beneficial particles in green tea, have been linked to cancer prevention, decreased risk of stroke, heart diseases, and lowered blood cholesterol. Catechin, a tannin derivative found in tea, is the main component which provides benefits in green tea and is present in higher amounts than in grape juice and red wine, which are also believed to reduce the rate of heart disease. In toiletries, green tea powder is a wonderful addition to provide skin soothing properties to toiletries along with possible antioxidant benefits.

Lavender oil is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, antidepressant, sedative and detoxifier which promotes healing and prevents scarring. It also stimulates the immune system and contributes to the healing process by stimulating the cells of a wound to regenerate more quickly.
-Lemon - Improves memory, relaxation, clears mind, promotes energy , a tissue toner. (Japanese studies show that lemon aromas piped into their office buildings bring 35% more mental clarity and accuracy). Lemon is part of the Rutaceae family also known as a citrus fruit. Lemons are grown in the milder regions and can be from 30 to 45 percent juice depending on type and climate. The acid produced mostly by the citrus and identified as C6H8O7 promotes preservation. The lemon is rich in Vitamin C and much like salt removes moisture to prevent spoilage and rotting. This antiseptic oil will perform many tasks when used in blends, including treating verrucas, insect bites and tension headaches. It has a tonic action on the lymphatic system and a stimulating action on the digestive system. It will assist you to also slim, help disperse cellulite and keep wrinkles away.

-Patchouli -The essential oil of patchouli is extracted by steam distillation from the dried leaves of the Indonesian patchouli plant. Patchouli's reputation as an aphrodisiac can be credited to its exotic fragrance and relaxing effects. Patchouli is not only balancing and uplifting for emotions, but for the complexion as well. When used in a compress, the antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties help to treat cracked, dry skin, acne, minor burns and cuts.
-Peppermint - Great anti-septic, anti-inflammatory, soothes and tones irritated skin, increases mental accuracy. Peppermint has been used by many ancient cultures, including the Egyptians, Chinese and American Indians, no doubt because of its extremely useful health-promoting properties. These qualities make it a good oil in the treatment of indigestion, flatulence, bad breath, flu, catarrh, varicose veins, headaches and migraines, skin irritations, rheumatism, toothache and fatigue. It even keeps mice, fleas and ants away!

Sandalwood has been used for meditation in India because its calming and grounding effect quiets mental chatter and helps one focus on the present. The use of sandalwood as an aphrodisiac, particularly for men, dates back thousands of years. A massage with this oil greatly enhances feelings of physical pleasure.
